Question
Six of the 8 stops on the SOLO (upper) manual "siphon" or constantly play F above middle C when they are on.  The Tibia 16' and 8' stops work OK.
The ACCOMPANIMENT manual works fine and the pedal stops are OK.

I'm assuming that if there were a problem with one of the tone generators it would affect all stops and all octaves.
What might cause a single note of some stops of one manual to sound that way?
Is there a source for schematic diagrams of Baldwin 71L?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Dave,  The Model 71 uses a transistor divider technology which depends on a single set of oscillators.  This means, if one tone oscillator stops working, all the octave pitches produced by that oscillator stops working.  Having said that, the problem you describe has nothing to do with the oscillator circuits.  Rather the problem probably lies in the keying circuitry.  The most likely problem is with a broken or bent key contact.  As I recall, this organ uses multiple contacts per key, so it would follow that if only one contact was damaged, some stops could play just fine while other stops would behave as you have described.
