Question
Can you tell me how to determine the characteristics of a Yamaha W-series piano that is 52" tall. Do you have any idea how this might compare to a U3? I can't seem to find any information about Yamaha W-series upright pianos but there is one locally that I'm interested in, so that's why I am asking.

thx,
rob

Answer
Hello Rob,  Every piano must be judged on its own individual merits.  A significant variability among pianos exist even of the same make and model.  I could launch into a description of what I expect the characteristics of either piano should be and yet be far from accurate because of many factors such as age, wear, voicing, location of manufacture and materials used.  I suggest you try the W series piano.  If you do not fall in love with it, then you will know this specific piano is not for you.  You may find another W series that you in love with.  In which case, that would be the piano for you.  Never depend on the name of a piano to indicate its desirability...go and experience it first hand!
