Organ identification
Organ identification
I just obtained an organ and am having trouble identifying the manufacturer and model. There is a plate showing "Organ Company of Canada" Model 1900, but I understand OCC to be a distributor, and not a manufacturer, and I cannot find any other model or manufacturer information on the unit. It does say "made in Italy", so I searched on the following manufacturers but couldn't find any matches: Armon, Farfisa, General Music, and Mondaino (found on Wiki as Italian organ manufacturers).

I am completely new to the world of organs, so any guidance you can provide is appreciated. The organ itself seems to be mostly working, and a look under the hood this morning reveals a number of attempted repairs. I have attached some photos, and can provide any others that might help with identifying the manufacturer and model.

Answer
Hello Susanne,  I do not recognize the stop design, so from the photos, I cannot determine its builder. If I could examine the electronics within the console, I would have a better chance at identifying the builder.  I suggest removing the back of the organ and with a bright light, carefully examine the boards within for any identifying markings.  One good possibility could be Galanti. They are an Italian company famous for building organs for many other companies.  Expect a lot of dust, so either have a vacuum cleaner at the ready or take the organ outside and blow it out with compressed air.  Let me know what you find.
