Piano, Organ, and Keyboard/Irving Chicago piano

Looking at getting an Irving Chicago piano, #49933, but first I want to get some information on it since it seems difficult to find it online. What year does this serial # link to, once restored how well is the quality of sound (considered a good piano?)& lastly what would the value of it be once restored/tuned, as we don't want a money pit if we later decide to sell it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Travis:

The piano was made around 1909.

I assume this is an upright????

We do NOT restore 1909 uprights, or grands of this manufacture for that matter!

For every dollar you put in you will get a penny back in both value and quality.

Are you going to use this as a piano?

If so...STOP!

Go out and find a nice 30 year old studio console which, by definition, is heads and shoulders above what it is your looking at.

At least that is what I would tell you if you were my client.

Don't listen to "restorers" who tell you differently.

And make sure, with whomever you are dealing that they are a REGISTERED member of the Piano Technicians Guild.
