About Sara Tro
Expertise I am a professional custom picture framer and designer. I have experience in all areas of
picture framing, and own my own custom framing shop. I can answer questions relating
to the design of a piece, the preservation of the artwork, color theory, photograph
restoration, decor, art placement, room balancing and installation questions.
Experience I have owned my own retail custom frame shop for 5 years, and managed a high-end shop before that for 5.5 years. I worked for a professional restorer and archivist for 8 months prior to the management position. I am also a fine artist myself, with a BFA in Photography and Printmaking, and have been framing my own work for years and years.

Question Hi Sara,
I came across a response you gave to a gentleman concerning the framing and preservation of an old flag. In reading your note, I believe you mentioned you may know of someone in the Boston area. I live in Hartford, CT. area and also on Cape Cod. Is there a knowledgable person in the Ct./Ma. area that you can recommend?
Thank you.
Answer Hi Mario,
Thanks for writing!
I am originally from NY, and have family in Boston and Martha's Vineyard area. I used to know more people in the NYC and river towns areas, but I have lived in Seattle for over 10 years and shops have closed, experts I knew retired, etc.
My brother lives in the South End of Boston, and he has used the following frame shop with good results. I looked at her website and she seems serious (a good thing), creative (an art school graduate, also a good thing), and she has a similar philosophy to mine.. art should be handled professionally, archivally, elegantly and timelessly.

I would give her a try.. three cheers for small independent shops!
Bring something you could stand to lose until she impresses you with her knowledge and design taste, and if she doesn't, keep looking :)
Best of luck!
Sara
