The text above is a follow-up to inquiry sent dec. 12..."Hi, Mark. I've recently bought two expensive oil-painted landscapes painted outside. i need to illuminate them with a light source that is as close to natural light as i can get without deteriorating the painting (as sunlight would do). i also want a frame mounted light as opposed to a ceiling fixture. what do you think is my best bet?

Hi Dennis,
I apologize that it has taken me a couple of days to get back to you. This time of the year is very hectic at the shop. I need to do a little research on picture lights. At my shop we sell a very attractive electric model. I do know you need to stay away from battery operated lights. Let me look up exactly what manufacture and model we carry and look in our catalog to find out what is out there. I will get back to you this weekend and give you some ideas."
Thank you for your question.

Answer Dennis,
I've done some checking I'm not sure how close you can get to natural light. I could not find the manufacture of our lights. We buy them from a large framing supply company and they do not list the manufacture. If you have an upper end frame shop near you I would visit them and see if you could look in a catalog or they may carry a couple different styles that you could actually see and put your hands on. I think a light that uses a florescent bulb will give you the closest thing to natural light. Our shop sells very few picture lights and because of that I haven't kept up on all the designs and features. I appreciate your question because it has forced me to catch up a little. When I first started in the framing business there was really only one type and it was available in a shiny brass or a brushed gold. While I was digging around I found there are all types now, many have a more modern look. I will remind you to stay away from the battery operated lights, those I know do not work. Again, thank you for your question. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Please let me know if you need any clarification or have any more questions.
