Question
Hi Chrys, a pair of my white ringneck dove layed one egg last Tuesday the other Wednesday. Anyway Thursdaywhen i got home i found both eggs broken in the bottom of the cage. I have since changes their nesting set up. Do you know about how long from now they will lay again, or will it take the length of time that it would take if they had actually hatched the eggs. And another question, How do you get pied and silkies in doves. Thanks in Advance.

Answer
Hi, Cheryl,

If all is setup satisfactorily to the birds, it usually takes about 10 days for another clutch of eggs to start to be laid.  Some birds longer, it just depends on the birds and the setup, etc.  You changed it, so now they have to get used to the new.

I've never seen pied or silkie doves.  However, in order to produce them, you'd have to have adults that are pied/silkie and/or have pied/silkie in their genetic makeup.

Chrys
