Question Can you please tell me the name of the pilates exercise where you push yourself off the ground a few inches and hold the pose while pushing the air out of your lungs forcefully (several times during each set)? I believe it is done in a modified plank position, but it is not quite the pilates push up as you do not go all the way up. You hold your elbows close to the body and try to get your chest and stomach off the floor. This is a great exercise for your arms, especially triceps. I cannot remember the name of this exercise and would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks!
Answer Dear Francine,
This is not a classical Pilates mat exercise (except as a variation on the push up where you hold that position).
You are I believe thinking of Chattaranga in yoga, which is different from pilates. And yes, it is a great exercise for arms!
