QUESTION: Thank you. I saw some replies that you gave and it seems like you know a bit about algae. These are the questions.
1. What herbicide is best for controlling algae growth?
2. What are the problems algae is causing in the oceans and rivers?
3. Is it safe for the fish being grown through aquaculture to have algae growing on net pens?
4. What is the biggest killer of algae?
5. What types of diseases do algae carry that can be harmful to plants or animals?

Very good questions, unfortunately my background is primarily plant diseases and I don't think that I can give you the most up-to-date information on your questions. I have kept most current in plant pathology than other fields. You might consider contacting someone in the biology department in your school or a neighborhood college.
Good Luck on the science fair. It was one of my favorite things in HS.
