Plant Diseases/bromelia

Question
I have tried to carefully follow instructions over past two months (light, temperature, water), but this potted plant's red bloom has started turning brown.  Green leaves are all healthy and strong.  Is this a normal life cycle?  Any corrective action to suggest?3fhml

Answer
Hi Frank,  Bromeliads take very little water.  They like it where the flower comes out  and a little water in the soil if it is dry.  If the rest of the plant looks good and only the flower going down hill then it is time for the flower to go down.  The plant will die but will send up pups to take its place and bloom next year.  Most like shade and not the hot sun.
