Question
Good Day,
How to check HELICAL gear tooth contact pattern?
Which contact should be considered good and which are bad?
Best Regards

Answer
Helical gear tooth contact can be checked by bluing the surface of the teeth of one of the geaars in mesh. Turning the shaft in the proper direction and inspecting the transfer pattern from the blued gear to the non-blued gear. On most drives 70% central contact pattern will work well.
