Question
Dear sir,
In a conveyor system,  how the motor capacity, fluid coupling size and break are selected. I mean to ask is on what basis does the motor capacity, coupling and break sizes are selected.

Answer
Hi You need to look at the loading characteristics such as: Torque and HP required to move peak loads, Min to max HP requirements and load variations. Soft or hard start will determine coupling size as well and Hp and torque. There is lots to consider with such a system. ALSO the application , what you moving (Gravel, Ore, powder to name a few).I would check with your suppliers.  Hope this is a starting point.
