Question I had a tummy tuck Feb 6, 2008 I had to keep the tubes in for 6 weeks I am still retaining alot of fluid in my stomach they have drained my stomach once and know they are getting ready to drain me again. Is this normal and what should I do to keep this fluid off. Also when I sit down I still have alot of skin around like a tire.
Answer Hi Kimberly,
There's more about tummy tucks at my site, www.bodysculpture.com.
I'm sorry about the problems you're having, but if there is still fluid there, then it's important that drains be inserted (in my opinion). Simply draining the fluid may not be adequate.
I've written a lot about this; you may want to search Allexperts for "Seroma" to get various views of how to address it.
As far as the excess tissue, some of that may be due to the fluid. It takes a good six months to see the final results of a procedure like this, and that will be delayed if fluid has accumulated.
So - the first step is to make sure that the fluid is being adequately removed, and then you'll have to take it from there.
