Question
Hi
It's been 3 1/2 weeks since my tummy tuck. It was a full one with lypo on my sides and back. The question is that 1 side is starting to curve in and show contour on my waist...but the other side isnt and its still straight & square...Is it normal? Also, my belly button seemed like it was healing and now all of a sudden its turning bright pink and around the inside of it where the scab was it looks like hollowness instead of it connecting to the rim...what's the story on a healing belly button?

Thanks
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,

There's more about tummy tucks and lipo at www.bodysculpture.com.

You will obviously need to talk to your PS about these issues but it is actually pretty common in my experience for one side (of anything!) to heal slightly differently from another.  The fact that one side is rounder now than the other may just indicate that you still have more swelling on one side.  It can take up to 3-6 months to see the final result from these procedures.

I'm not too sure about the belly button since I don't have a good sense of what  you're describing but, again, it can take a while for the incisions to heal completely and it's not uncommon for the incisions to open up a bit, after which they close on their own.  You can probably just wash the areas normally and then apply a bandaid.

And you should give your PS a call.

I hope that this helps, and good luck,

Dr. E
