Question
I have had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy I have a huge overhang of skin that causes my clothes not fit right I'm grossly over weight and probably will be for the rest of my life I don't want a tummy tuck to be skinny again I would just like to be able to put my pants on and not need a dress to cover the disgusting roll of fat that shows I'm 45 and I hate to go out in public it's so embarrassing my clothes don't fit right if they fit across my fat flap then they are loose in the waist and no matter what if my top is not as long as a dress almost the flap of fat shows through my clothes in the summer time I battle with yeast infection in crease of the fat flap my insurance wont cover surgery because they say it's elective so my question is Is there any plastic surgeons who offer free or reduced fees for such things in a case such as mine? I live in KY a friend told me she had heard that there teaching hospitals that do free or reduced fee plastic surgery if you are willing to sign a release not to hold them liable for any problems or mistakes is this true if so where do I sign up? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Answer
Hi Polllie,

The best thing is probably exactly that - contact any medical centers near you to see if there are reduced-rate programs for procedures such as these.

Depending on where you live, you'll need to figure out which large hospitals nearby have plastic surgery programs.  It may take a few phone calls, but you should be able to fine a program within some reasonable distance from you.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to say, but I hope that this helps, and good luck,

Dr. Alan Engler
