I am a 65 year old man, somewhat overweight, but it doesn't show in my face or neck.
However, in the area between the chin and top of the neck there is too much skin. If I squeeze it between thumb and forefinger there's about two inches.
How big a deal is surgery to get rid of this?
Many thanks,
John

Hi John,
Well, it depends how you look at it; it is neither the biggest nor the smallest procedure.
In order to tighten up that skin and remove the excess while leaving barely visible incisions, the skin really needs to be pulled up and back. That will allow the incisions to be placed just in front of and behind the ears - and that procedure is essentially a facelift (versions are called mini, lower, etc., but that's the concept).
The other possibility is if there is even a little fat underneath the chin within that "two inches" of tissue, then even removing that small amount of fat can allow the skin to contract surprisingly well (obviously can't say for sure over the Internet). There are some photos of the results of this procedure at my site, www.bodysculpture.com on the facelifts and liposuction of the neck page (within Surgical Procedures).
Exactly which procedure is likely to be most beneficial to you is hard for me to say. Your best bet, of course, is to read about these choices of procedures, and then go visit a few plastic surgeons in your area to get an idea of what would specifically be appropriate for you. You can get a list of surgeons at surgery.org.
