Question I've suffered many years with HS. I'm a veteran with no insurance. The Veterans Hospital doesn't specialize in my problem and told me that it wasn't that bad. OK, now I need to see someone else. I don't know who or where to ask for help without feeling embarrassed or like I'm wasting time. Please help
Thank You

Hi Lillie,
It is, of course, very sad that as a veteran you have no insurance...and I'm sorry for that.
However, what you should do is find a medical center near you and contact the plastic surgery department or clinic. Once you're enrolled there, they may be able to help with some sort of an insurance/social service consult to help get your treatment covered and, at any rate, the costs are dramatically lower there than via any private doctors. The reason, of course, is that you will be taken care by senior residents under the supervision of more experienced surgeons. The care is typically excellent and affordable.
