Plastic Surgery/Urgent!

Question
Hi,

My I had Gastric Bypass Surgery 4 years ago. As you can well imagine I do have a lot of loose skin and would really like to have many procedures done. I was wondering if people volunteer for these services such as plastic surgery and if so how would I go about getting help with my situation. I would definitely be interested in finding out if there is anyway I can volunteer for a procedure like this one and get the procedure done at no cost. I am a widow and single mom and can’t afford to have it done due to finances and my insurance does not cover it. I really suffer a lot with the agony of the loose skin. It seems like first it was the weight (not being able to do things with my children because the weight restraint) now it is the embarrassment of all the hanging and loose skin everywhere. I would be more then willing to pose and be spokes person for the clinic. Please let me know if there is any possible chance of this?

Hi,

Congrats on everything you've gone through!  I know it's great for your health, and it's obviously helping the way you look.  Now it's on to the next step.

I don't know of a specific forum that would provide what you're looking for, but I would think that the best approach is to contact a medical center near you.  Ask for the plastic surgery department or clinic, and then make an appointment there.

Each university or medical center has its own rules and routines, so you may have to try to figure it out a bit there.  But that's where I'd start.

Congrats again, and good luck,

Dr. Alan Engler
