Plastic Surgery/Nose surgery and Sleep apnea

Hello, if a patient have sleep apnea or if he is not sure that whether he has sleep apnea or not, in both the cases is it necessary to have a sleep apnea test done before nasal bone surgery?

from Dr. Alan Engler

Hi Humair,

Nothing is 100% but I would say that, in general, it is prudent to fully assess the airway, including any issues of sleep apnea, prior to undergoing surgery of that region.  That of course applies to all surgical sites (ie they should be assessed preoperatively).

The final decision(s) for care should be made by you in consultation with your own board-certified surgeon.

I hope that this helps and good luck,
