Plastics/Which plastic do you think is ideal for bottling hot liquids?

Question
Dear Mr Tomlinson,

I want to manufacture a bottle that will hold hot drinks in. I would like to know which plastic you consider is the most suited for said purpose. The plastic shouldn't contaminate the drink (the drink should be safe to consume after being bottled) and it shouldn't deform whilst holding either cold water or hot water.
Finally, a plastic which is very cheap to obtain for the manufacturing process is ideal.

Thank you,

Li

Answer
Dear Li,
What you propose to do is a little confusing after filling the bottle do you propose selling it while it is still hot or after it is cooled and then reheated.
What temperature is the hot filling that you propose?
Contamination of the drink will have to be tested along with many other tests that will have to be carried out.
Deformation of the plastic when cold or hot will require a thicker than normal wall thickness.
Two options spring to mind depending on temperature of filling PET or PC.
regards,
Robert
