Playground Safety and Design/SWING HEIGHT FROM GROUND UP

Question
Scott,

If using a belt swing for preschoolers what is the max. height from the ground to the bottom of the swing?

Barbara

Answer
Hi Barbara,
The MINIMUM distance between the impact absorbent surfacing material and the underside of the belt swing seat is 12". If you happen to have a tot (bucket) seat, it's 24" (MINIMUM).

If using "loose fill" surfacing (i.e., mulch, sand, rubber chips, etc.) then measure from the LEVEL height (after raking it all level and even), not from a pit under the seats.
