Plumbing in the Home - water heater leak

Expert: Leo Luczak - 10/7/2008

Question
I have a bradley - white water heater (Model: MI5036EN10) that has a water leak of about one cup per day. It seems like it is coming from somewhere above the base (bottom plate) because I can see the fiberglass insulation is wet about an inch above where the pilot light is. This drips down to the base, which drips on the floor.

Any idea what's going on? And how to stop it?

Answer
If the water heater is leaking around the base that usually means a leaky tank and you need to replace the WH   Check the connections where the water enters and exits the tank for leakage and the relief valve just to be sure though.   By the way 10 years is a good lifespan for a water heater.
