Plumbing in the Home - Pex tubing

Expert: Leo Luczak - 2/9/2008

Question
Hi Leo,
This is Steve Young and I am one of your fellow experts (Home Improvement, Travel).  Anyway, I am wondering if Pex has pretty much replaced copper tubing in residential home plumbing?  I am getting ready to redo some lines in a rental house and it seems like the Pex is so much easier to work with and there is also the safety factor of not having to sweat joints.  What is your opinion of Pex.
Thanks very much for your time Leo!

Answer
I must say I see alot of PEX I believe it does have its advantages   as long as it installed per manufacturer's specs and you make up a manifold to run a supply to every fixture rather than running the pipes in 'series' like we used to do with copper.
