Question Shower knob simply spins now -- no water coming out of shower. Single handle, shower only, 10 year old Moen posi-temp. Single family house.
I pulled the cap off of the Chateau (clear plastic) Moen, so I could replace what I thought was broken. But when I attempt to remove the center screw, it actually turns the water on/off. That is, the screw doesn't come out it just turns the valve on then off, then on, then off... I can use the philips screwdriver now to turn the water on and off, but not exactly the solution I was hoping for. What needs fixing? I can't even remove the handle.
Thanks!

Hi Ken,
That valve can be a bit complicated to work on and If you can’t figure it out by looking at it then you my need to get someone to help you. I am giving you the link to Moen and there are several views they (Moen) provide to help you. http://www.moen.com/browsecatalog/catalog/specpartsearch.cfm
Copy and paste the URL in your browser and hopefully that information will solve your problem. I would suggest that you mark the white serrated plastic pieces that fit directly under the handle as that settings controls how hot the water can get. Once you take the flange off you should be able to see the way the valve works a little easier. I think that what you describe above is that the screw you are turning merely turns the cartridge and that of course controls the on/off function. You did not say what your actual problem was but if it was that the valve would not get hot enough that adjustment is in the white plastic serrated pieces under the handle (they just control where the handle goes) AND in order to adjust that valve BOTH hot and cold water must be on.
