About Anthony - The Plumber
Expertise
I can answer most questions in the field of plumbing home repair for the inside or outside property of a home including irrigation systems, septic systems, well water systems, recirculation systems and I can address these questions from a beginning plumbing standpoint or for someone who has more advanced skills.
Are you working on an addition or remodelling? Need some bathroom or kitchen
design ideas?
Run your questions by me since I enjoy that challenge of remodelling & new
construction projects.
Experience I have worked on a variety of major projects including Home Depot as an outsourced Project Manager tasked to repair the fire system at the Fullerton/Placentia store and distribution center in Orange County.
I believe in simplifying any task I am assigned in order to avoid wasting time and material, while I always look for the simplest solution possible to the issue and then I execute my plan.
Having lead many construction crews, large and small, I have been involved in residential and commercial repair and remodel projects including medical facilities, new home construction, high rises and apartment complexes.
Building maintenance work in condominium complexes from Playa del Rey to Beverly Hills to the Hollywood Hills are a speciality. I have completed many maintenance work projects at complexes great and small.

Expert: Anthony - The Plumber - 11/6/2009
Question This is kind of strange, but I'm trying to help out my local YMCA chapter. They installed a new excercize facility about five years ago in a location far from their main building. This is a delight for workers downtown who want to work out and shower and change before going home.
They have five individual showers in each men's and women's locker room. ALL of the five stalls have the same exact features, except the first one is handicapped accessable and much larger.
Each shower stall has a single control lever handle that rotates between off, cool to hot. The lever in every stall is loose... that is, it "flops" about a half to a quarter of an inch before making contact with the stem that adjusts the valve and flow.
I've tried to insert an allen head wrench of various sizes but can't seem to get a firm "bite" on the set screw to tighten them down.
Is there an industry standard set screw size for all such shower handles?
I'd like to do a good turn for the YMCA and tighten them all, one at a time. What can you recommend? Or should I mind my own business?
Answer Kirk,
Helping others in need is definitely a noble enterprise.
It seems whenever a person plans to help someone, there is always an obstacle
to accomplishing the task. Don't get disheartened.
It's possible that the screws could be metric and your tools are American sized.
Change your allen set to metric and you should be fine.
Let me know how it turns out.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Anthony
