Question
Are all vent pipes required by code to come to single outlet point? If not, is there any disadvantage to having more than one outlet another than another roof penetration?

Answer
usually if a vent is more than 20' from where another vent is than a new vent will be popped through the roof. on existing systems and since its harder to poke a hole in the roof and secure the roof flashing you can tie into vents far away. the 20' rule is just usually in new construction for money saving reasons. it's cheaper when a house doesnt have the roof on yet just to pop a hole in the plywood and stick it out and drop a flashing on it for the roofers to deal with.
