Plumbing in the Home - Main Water Supply Replacement

Expert: no longer answering questions - 6/27/2009

Question
I have to replace the main water supply line. The line is approx 60 feet long
and will be buried in sand about 14 inches deep.

I have been quoted $50 per foot for the project, which sounds steep.

Does the quote sound like a fair price?

Thanks.

LDK

Answer
about 1,500 is fair. 800-1,500. all they will do is use a ditch-witch to dig the trench. the only real digging is at the meter pit and the house. call some other companies for free quotes. important, make sure they are licensed though. unlicensed things like that can get stopped in the middle. the company will take your money, and leave you looking for a licensed plumber to redo it.
