AboutDana Bostick Expertise Pretty much any residential plumbing questions. Note: I live and work in Southern California. We do not as a rule use boilers, hot water or steam heating systems or wells so my knowledge in those areas is limited. There are others here that can probably answer those questions better.

Question One of my faucets went bad and I had to replace it. I couldn't find a matching
faucet (it is in a 2 sink bathroom) so I unhooked another faucet in the house
and moved it into the double and put the new one in the single sink
bathroom. Both are now reversed for hot & cold water. They will get fully cold
and fully hot, but backwards. Both are connected to the correct hot/cold
lines; both worked correctly before the switch; both are single handle faucets.
In both cases, the left supply gets cold to touch when the valve runs cold and
the right supply gets hot. It seemed like a simple operation; what's
happened?
Answer Hi Jeff,
Somehow the piping got switched during construction. It happens. You should be able to just swap the flex supplies and get the hot and cold on the proper side at the faucets.
If they are Moen faucets, you can rotate the cartridge 180 degrees to swap the hot and cold. Just remove the handle and rotate the stem it fastens to and reinstall the handle.
Good Luck,
Dana
