Plumbing in the Home/rust on countertop

Question
We just installed a new cast iron sink.  Now I notice rust on the caulk.  What do we do ?  Is it a defect of the sink?

Answer
Helen, The installer should have used 100% silicon when he set the sink. Moisture must be contacting the cast in order for rust to form. Once it starts it is difficult to stop. I would have the sink removed and reset after the rust is removed. I should be sanded off with steel wool or a wire wheel the a coating of rust preventative sealer applied then reset in silicone
