Question Hello!
I have a question regarding a basement bathroom. The bathroom is currently unfinished but is plumbed for a toilet and sink. The upstairs bathroom is right above and the pipes for that goes right down the wall (the room is not drywalled). My wish is to install a shower in there so I would have to 1. Tee off the hot and cold lines from above and 2. Add a shower drain. The floor is concrete so I am not sure what lies beneath. My plan is to jack-hammer out a section of the floor to put in the drain pipe. Can I use the same drain for the new shower AND the toilet?
Thanks much,
Chris.
Answer Good morning Chris, Cut your shower drain pipe,(two inch) into the lavatory drain pipe and this will vent your entire bathroom group. That way you will be using the four inch discharge line from the toilet as a main and the two inch line tied into the lavatory and shower as a branch. The rough in for the lavatory,(sink) does extend out to the roof doesn't it? Because if it doesn't your're going to have to run it out yourself to properly vent the group. More questions? I'm as close as a click. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply. Tom
