Question Our laundry tub faucet is a "Belanger" model about 8 years old. Has a hot & cold turn handle with a 12" spout that comes up on a 45 degree angle. It is hooked up to the tube that feeds water to the trap in the basement floor drain.
For a while now it makes a low ticking sound/hum when shut off. It seemed that the hot water tap was the source so I have changed the hot tap washer twice but to no avail. Water does not drip from the spout, but it sounds like there is a drip going on?
Can you explain what I am hearing and how to repair.
Thanking you in advance, Claudio.
Answer Good morning Claudio,
When you changed the washer did you check the seat for nicks or rough spots? Anicked set will allow water to seep through making the noise you describe. If the seat's bad then it must be replaced. If it can not be replaced then the faucet must be replaced or a reseating tool used to reface the seat.
Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply. Tom
