Plumbing in the Home/Plumbing Leak?

Question
Dear Eric,
Thank you for your quick reply. We shut the cold water going into the solar hot water heater as you suggested. The water meter stopped running. We checked the solar panel and pipes but cannot find any leaks. there are also no leaks around or under the water heater. Do you have any Idea of what could be happening? Could it be possible that there is something wrong with the water meter itself or do you still think that there is a leak somewhere? Thanking you again for your help.

I noticed that my water meter SOMETIMES runs when no one is using the water. Sometimes the meter registers 1/2 gallon in one hour, and some times none at all. The toilets are ok. I can not find a leak anywhere.  Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the question.  If the water meter runs, then you have a leak somewhere.  I would start by checking all the toilets, faucets, and hose bibs,  Make sure nothing is dripping - at all.  Then turn off the cold water supply to the hot water heater.  Check the water meter.  If it is still moving then you have a cold water leak.  If you do, then its time to call a pro

Answer
O.K.  You have a hot water leak in the house.  It may not be in the solar system, but it could be in the piping from the hot water heater out to each fixture.  At this point I would suggest calling your home owners insurance company.  Tell them you have a slab leak and need a plumber
