Question One of our showers has a high pitched howling or squealing sound when it's running. This is very annoying while in the shower, and can also be heard throughout the house. No other shower or faucet in the house makes this noise. It's been happening for about three months. Any ideas? Thanks.
Answer Good morning Shauna, FirstI have to know what I'm dealing with. What brand is your shower valve? How old? One handle or two knobs? The noise you hear is caused by a piece of broken washer or a tiny piece of trash that vibrates every time water rushes past it. It's carried throughoutthe house a phenomena known as sympathetic vibration. To give you instructions on how to open up your valve and repair this problem I will need the information I requested. I'll wait on your reply and answer ASAP. Cheers, Tom
