AboutLeo Luczak Expertise I am a Certified Building Official, and I am certified by the International Conference of of Building Officials as a plans examiner and as a commercial and residential building and plumbing inspector.
Experience I have been the Building Official for a small town in Alaska for the last 14 years. I also spent 20 years working in construction. I don't know that much about wells and septic systems.
Question I am considering having an acrylic enclosure installed in our stall shower. One firm offers an enclosure made from a single large acrylic sheet which is bent and shaped to fit our stall. It has the advantage of no seams. The other firm builds the enclosure inside the stall from 3 sheets. There are seams which are sealed but the fit is supposed to be better. Which of these would be the best system? Thank you for your help.
Answer I prefer the one piece molded enclosure but in my experience you have to place the unit inside the bathroom before the door opening is framed in as it is too large to fit through the width of a door jamb. (I have had to tear out a wall before to get the unit into the bathroom.) If the project is a retrofit into an existing bathroom then I would go with the three piece unit.
