Plumbing in the Home/clog drain

Question
leo;

its me again.  i failed to mention that i am on city sewer line.  i have been reading other people's questions and i guess i must consider that my problem with drain back up may be a clog somewhere in the sewer line.  if this is so can i rent some type of heavy duty snake to feed down the stack pipe or through a clean out in the basement?  my sewer line is probably 100' to street.  is this a big job beyond capabilities of a determined do-it-all yourself at minimum cost and little experience kind of guy?

Answer
It sounds to me more like a problem with the sewage line than  a ventinng problem

You could try running a snake down the line and hoping you have a toothbrush or something else clogging the line.    If it gets into the main line to the road a professional is recommended.

Here's a good web article;
