I agree with this response but usually the wax ring should be put on the toilet with the "cone-ring" put down on the floor as described. For lining up purposes I'd tie a 3-4 foot piece of kite string to the top of each bolt. Rest the front part on the floor and fish them through the holes. Position the toilet very close to the drain and pull the string taught. Put the string in your hands and tilt the toilet back until it's almost resting on them. Using your fingers tighten the string then lift the toilet. When the string is centered in the holes it should drop straight down. Usually works like a charm and can be done by yourself. In tight places two people can't get in anyway. My Dad was doing this for 40 years as a plumber and someone showed it to him.

Experience

My greatest accomplishment was finishing my first bathroom upgrades in my first home which helped me to sell my home is less than 3 days by myself with a For Sale By Owner sign and no more. Plus I got $10,000 more for it in just 4 years of owning it, now that is great equity.
