I had the same problem with a new washing machine overflowing the drain pipe.  The drain hose was installed without a gooseneck on it.  I purchased and installed a new drain hose with a gooseneck at the drain connection.  Evidently, the gooseneck slows down the water.  PROBLEM SOLVED.

I had this same problem! I did exactly what you did and the water never backed up, only with the washer! Plumber came said that the pipe was restricted with lent but not fully blocked! your washer pumps out more volume than the hose! He ran electric snake down it and it has been working ever since!
