I am a home owner and have a well with a pressurized holding tank in my celler with a water heater. I have noticed that the water pressure is not great. The holding tank has a bladder in it (there is a air pressure nozzle in the tank). Do these kind of tanks need to be pressurized regually?
Answer Hi Arthur, A bladder tank needs to be adjusted to the cut in point on your pressure control box. Most Square D pressure controls are set to 20 PSI cut in and 40 PSI cut out, although some are set at 30/50. Check and see what yours is and then shut the pump off at the breaker box and open a valve and let the system drain down. The bladder pressure should read 2 pounds below the cut in pressure on the control box with the system drained down and no water pressure in the lines. To make it simple, if your control box cuts in at 20 PSI then the air pressure in the bladder tank should read 18 pounds of air. If you wish to increase the water pressure in your system click on back and I'll walk you through the adjustment. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply. Tom
