Plumbing in the Home/tub drain/ stopper

Question
How do I remove a tub drain that twist to the right to set and twist left to open to drain the tub.   There is no screw and I have twisted countless times to the left trying to perhaps unscrew it and have gotten no where.

Help,
Tom

Answer
Hi Tom,  If this is the stopper that you push down when you twist to the right to set and pops up to drain when you twist to the left, it will indeed unscrew counter clockwise to remove.  Perhaps the chrome top is moving on top of the plastic underneith. Grab the entire top with a pair of pliers and try agan.  But that's just removing the top part.  You will need a "tub tool" to remove the main body from the tub shoe,(drain) located under the tub. Why do you wish to remove it and what are you replacing it with?  If there's something else click on back and we'll take it from there.  Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply.  Tom
