About Jesse Moser Expertise I specialize in the Plymouth Duster from 1970 to 1973, allthough 1974 through 1976 Dusters are nearly identical. 340s, Twisters, Feather Dusters (the cars!), whatever "A" body Duster you have, I can probably give you some info.
Experience I own a 1973 Duster with the Twister options package. I've been searching for information on this specific car since 1995 and have acquired much general and specific knowledge in the process.

Question I have a 74 Duster with a 318 engine. I have a 2 barrel carb and I have a couple questions. I recently did a tune up with a new distributor cap, spark plugs, ignition wires, and a fuel filter. After that, the car wouldn't start. The carb started to flood and we ended up draining the battery trying to start it. What might be the problem. Someone told me the starter was "fried" so I got another one. We haven't got it in yet but just in case, if that is not the problem, what might be kepping my car from starting.
Answer Sean, if the engine cranks every time but won't fire, the starter is not to blame. I would start by checking your spark plug wires and distributor cap. First, make sure the spark plug wires go to the right cylinders, and that they're snapped in place including the coil wire. If you didn't know, the firing order is 1-8-6-5-4-3-7-2, #1 being the driver's front, 2 passenger front, and so on.
If that checks out, make sure the distributor cap is on correctly. Hopefully this gets you running again. If not, feel free to come back fo more help.
