Question
Hi Dr. Katz,
I have had many problems with my toenails and started having sections removed over 10 years ago.  My last removal was less then a year ago and both large toenails are painfully ingrown again.  Is there another solution, at this point I am willing to try anything.  If I get the whole nail removed will it grow back?
Thank You in advance,
Gillian

Answer
Hi Gillian,

You could have a permanent nail procedure, also known as a matrixectomy.  This would not require removal of the whole toenail, just the sides.  See my article below for more information.
