Question Today I jammed my left big into a curb.I went to a doctor and he did a x-ray,it looked like a chipped bone on top of toe,its very painful.Doctor wanted to put me out of service. The problem is ,I drive a truck cross country, this happened in Boston,ma.,I live in calif.so I refused,as I have load assignment heading home. Also the x-ray showed that I have aritis in my left big toe,am I foolish to go home? It would a lot cheaper if I go home
Answer Go home!
PRICE
Protect-wear a stiff shoe or stiff sandal while driving and try not to push with the toe and wrap it good so it doesn't move
Rest-walk less and take a break while driving every few hours to elevate
Ice-on and of for 72 hours
Compress-Mild ace wrap the area-which will also protect
Elevate-if it throbs elevate sooner
Max dose of Alleve or Advil for 3 days
Make sure you see a podiatrist that does both conservative and surgical care to give you the best options when you get home.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!
