Question I have been having pain in my right foot since May.In June i went to the ER where the doctor there said it was gout.Ive been having unbearable pain for months finally went back to the doctor and they Xray and said i had 2 fractured bones in my foot,i wore a cast for 3 weeks but it still is very painful to put pressure on the foot.the Xray showed the bones were healing. Now on the bottom of the foot i have a knot right under where the fracture was.Not sure why i still have so much pain and why the knot is there.Could you please help?
Answer Sorry for the last revision-
Had info for acute injuries-added more to your answer
The knot may be the area where the fracture is healing. There is usually a bonny bridge (callus) that forms around a fracture to immobilize it to allow to heal. If there is movement of the fracture site that bone will get bigger before it gets smaller. Movement of the foot fracture also will cause pain and irritate the tissues around the foot fracture.
Try to find a supportive shoe-like a work boot or walking shoe that keeps the foot from hurting.
Start your gout diet immediately to rule out any gouty involvement.
Sometimes physical therapy will help with the pain and size of the knot.
Since you are having pain you should see your local podiatrist-that's the expert!.
Hope this helps
Good Luck!
