I am a board-certified Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) and a certified Foot Cryosurgeon
Question My wife has a plantar fibroma on her left foot about the thickness of a pencil about 1 inch long. My question is is this treatable with cryosurgery. If so do you accept medicare assignment & federal BC & BS ins. We are in vancouver Wa and could travel to yor location if required. She doesnt want to have major surgery on it. Thank you for any info you can give us.
Answer Hi James,
Cryosurgery is an off-label treatment for fibroma. Cryosurgery is used commonly for soft tissue tumours. It is a decent option considering that the regular surgery is highly invasive. Please be aware that there is no guarantee that the fibroma will resolve and several treatments may be required over time.
Cryosurgery for plantar fibroma is not covered by insurance
