Question I was dx with plantar fasciitis 3 years ago and have tried taping,soft cast,stretching, custom orthotics, good shoes, cortisone shot, eswt, cryo, and just started prolotherapy. Two weeks ago, the fascia was 6.5 in one foot and 7.5 in the other. X-rays were negative for fractures etc. Sometimes, I have mild heal pain first thing in the morning, other times I do not. As the day progresses, I get heal pain and pain in the arch. I have always had a prominent bump under the ankle bone on the inside of my feet. That bump is sensitive to the touch.
How do you determine whether you have plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel or both????
Answer Hi Amy,
There are several tests that would be beneficial. One is an MRI and the other is a nerve conduction study. This will provide much needed information. I have seen this scenario many times. Often this can be resolved with a different type of orthotic and repeat cryosurgery. See my site for the different types of cryosurgery. CryoMax differs from others because I use an advanced ultrasound guidance and the nerves are frozen. Many doctors don't use ultrasound or they use it and just freeze the plantar fascia. I have found my technique to produce better results. Of course not everyone benefits. See my site below for cryosurgery.
