Question
I have now had tingling in both feet for about two weeks.  This seems to have come on quickly, and I am a Type 1 Diabetic for 18 years.  Not always tight control, but in good control now (last two weeks).  I seemed to have this feeling in my feet about three years ago, and it went away; is this neuropathy and does it typically come & go?  I appreciate your help, Dr. Katz.

Hi Glenn,

The symptoms of neuropathy can come and go.  Typically, they worsen with poor blood sugar control.  If you had poor control prior to the two weeks that could be some of the issue.  I would see your dr and make sure that your control is better.  In addition you can have a nerve conduction study done to test for neuropathy

I would see a podiatrist to have an exam also.
