Question My nine year old daughter had wide feet, and high arches, so finding shoes is a constant struggle, and she always complains that her shoes bother her. She takes her shoes off, as often as possible, and can't wait until flip flop season! Over the past two week she has been complaining of heel pain and the tops of her feet look swollen, and bruised. They are tender to the touch and have been increasingly causing pain. She, nor I can think of any trauma, that may have caused her an injury? What is your opinion on this?
Answer Hi Stephanie,
THis may be inflammation of the growth plate in the heel. This can come from typical activities without injury. This is also known as calcaneal apophysitis. I would see a podiatrist.
