Podiatry/is it normal?

Question
for your big toe and your second toe to be touching slightly at the tips when your foot is relaxed? and is asymmetry between your feet normal??

Answer
Yes, it is normal for your big toe and second toe to touch.  If there is too much pressure you may develop a soft callous between the digits.  Also, if you observe that your big toe is progressively moving toward your second digit and goes above or below that digit then you may have a bunion deformity.  I would nonetheless recommend custom orthotics to help keep your feet aligned properly so that you can slow down the progression of any impending deformities.
