AboutLG Expertise Hello, Dear Reader. My name is LG. I'm able to answer most of your questions about ALL POKEMON GAMES. Since I became an Expert in this category (+- 5 years ago), I became fascinated by the internal structure of Pokémon and I started to check all game info and all game research data. As a Pokémon Trainer, I know a lot about all game walkthroughs, stats, attacks, strategies, breeding, evolution and much more. If I don't know the answer, I'll look it up for you or I'll redirect you to one of my Fellow Experts. I hope to read you soon! :)
Experience About ten years ago I started playing Pocket Monsters with my first game, Pokémon Red. I became addicted to the game and bought its equivalent, Pokémon Blue and later on the special version, Pokémon Yellow. After that, I bought all the games of Pokémon that were released for the Game Boy platform by pre - ordering them in my local shop. I'm still checking the data of the Pokémon Research today, even data from the old First Generation.
Question QUESTION: I really like the baton pass idea, but i feel that it wouldn't really support my essential strategy (a constant attack, using spiritomb and tentacruel for strategies against those i can't overcome by weakness)advantage. I found out tha there are also alot of moves that eliminate stat changes (Mist, Roar, etc.) Maybe I'll take that idea into consideration for maybe a second team.
Anyways, this is how I expect my team to turn out.
Surf
Sludge Bomb
Double Team/Barrier
Toxic
(Just thought of this moveset)
Gengar:
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Focus Blast
Thunderbolt
So, that's it! I'm sure you can help me out with some of the shaky parts in here, and I just thought of something random, maybe to start off a new team:
Houndoom, modest special sweeper:
Flamethrower
Dark Pulse
Nasty Plot
Toxic
OR
Flamethrower
Dark Pulse
Toxic
Roar
It'll be a while before i start thinking of a new team, though, so for now, I'm focused with my first team.
P.S. Is it true that Pikachu and Rhydon can learn surf?
ANSWER: Hi David,
Well, there is a problem with the team : on one hand, you poison the opponent, but on the other hand, you put it to sleep with Spiritomb. A Pokémon can awaken out of it's sleep, but once it is poisoned, it cannot be unpoisoned. So :
- You keep the Toxic combo with Tentacruel and you delete the Hypnosis combo on Spiritomb.
- Vice versa.
Another remark is that you don't have a Water or Ice attack in your team. This is an attack type every team should have.
The first moveset of Houndoom has Nasty Plot to raise it's Spec. Attack. The problem lies here that it isn't certain that Houndoom has enough staying power to build up it's Spec. Attack before it is knocked out.
The second one is meant to toxic the opponent first and then oblige it to switch out using Roar. Beware : when Roar is used, the opponent's Pokémon is switched out for a RANDOM member of it's party. This means Roar can result in an already poisoned Pokémon after it's use.
This Houndoom is good to poison two or three opponents, but if I was you, I should consider something that has more staying power than Houndoom for this kind of use.
Good luck raising your team and have fun! :)

QUESTION: Ah, then how about these ideas?
Tentacruel: Sp. Atk and Speed
Surf
Ice Beam
sludge bomb/double team
barrier/rest
Or maybe try:
Cloyster: Sp. Def and Sp. Atk
Barrier/Iron Defense
Ice Beam
Surf
Rest/Double Team
Or even
Milotic: Sp. Atk and Def/Sp. Def
Ice Beam
Surf
Recover
Refresh/Attract
Answer Hi David,
The first moveset with Double Team / Rest is very good. You don't need to have both a Water and Ice attack, one of them is sufficient. So you can exchange one of them with Sludge Bomb, a move that can be quite a surprise for your opponent, because Poison moves are not very popular.
Although Cloyster is a favorite of mine, he is just so weak when it comes to Spec. Defense and HP. Making him also vulnerable to Electric and Grass attacks and you know it isn't the right Pokémon for your strong party.
Milotic is also a good choice. Being a pure Water type, you only have to deal with Electric / Grass attack. But this girl has masses of Spec. Defense... Attract can be very annoying and with Recover this annoyance is complete. Again, one of both types (Water or Ice) is sufficient, so you can replace one of them with another move.
