Question Hi - could you advise me on the the availability of touring caravan sites in Poland and in particular in the Kracow area. I understand that there is a new motorway which has dramaticaly reduced the travelling time from western europe - is this correct?. Also what in your opinion wouold be the best route to take to Poland. We were planning to make to make the short hop from Dover to Calais but live in the north of England but wonder are there any suitable crossings that would get us closer to Poland apart from the crosssing from Hull to Holland. Finally do you foresee any poblems from taking a touring caravan to Poland? Many Thanks. John
Answer Dear John Teahan,
thank you for your e-mail and request. If you are travelling from Western Europe to Poland and especially to Krakow area the best solution is taking A 4 highway from Forst/Olszyna. The first part to Katowice is free of charge (but between Wrocław and Gliwice - 139 km any available petrol/gas station on highway), next between Katowice and Krakow there is a charge of 6,50 PLN / car / one way, and this is the old part of highway and under some reconstructions.
In my opinion you shouldn't have any special problems, besides fact there is a high season and reduced number of available places and camp sites, car-park places, etc.
